And the crew of volunteers here is my community, especially during the COVID lockdown. It is an honor to keep them safe, healthy, clean, and secure in love. And worthwhile? Loving, caring, and providing for these wonderful horses and piggies is beyond worthwhile. I’d say my goals were rather small compared to my experiences! I’m learning so much from Patricia and her team of Leads, with their mentorship and support. My time there is the highlight of my week! My reasons for volunteering were to up my level of horsemanship and to do something worthwhile in my retirement. I have been a volunteer at Serenity for almost a year now. Community Stories 146 Stories from Volunteers, Donors & Supporters Programs: rescue and sanctuary, wellness clinics, horsemanship classes, welfare checks and support through our Jasper Family Community Fund and therapy through our Horses as Healers program. We have been named the Best of Western Washington non-profits and been featured in both the Seattle magazine and in the nationally recognized horse health magazine Equine Wellness in September of 2015. We have expanded our programs to include Education with our Education Center, Jasper Family Community Fund to help those in our community in need of support and Healing through our Horses as Healers program. We have rescued, rehabbed and rehomed hundreds of horses since 2007 and provide sanctuary to many more. Geographic areas served: several counties in Washington state. Target demographics: our equine companions and our community through education and equine therapy. We are proud of our Horses as Healers program and invite you to read the reviews from these clients on the Great Nonprofits Review page. Our reviews from these clients have been outstanding. Veterans have visited Serenity from around the US to spend a day on the farm with our facilitator and the horses. In 2018 we have had the honor to support our veterans in the Wounded Warrior program though a special project called the Odyssey Project. Our latest program is our Horses as Healers program. We have also added a number of new programs over the years. Some are still on the farm in sanctuary because they are in need of a lifelong home with special care. Most of the horses we have rescued have been adopted into their forever homes. Results: Serenity has rescued and rehabilitated hundreds of horses since our inception.
